Cobol Programmer

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, IMS Database (IMS DB), and IMS Data Communications (IMS DC). The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining mission-critical mainframe applications supporting business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.
• Work extensively with IMS DB for database design, access, and performance tuning.
• Develop and support IMS DC online transactions and message processing programs.
• Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
• Perform impact analysis and implement enhancements and bug fixes.
• Write and maintain technical documentation, program specs, and flow diagrams.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Support production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, QA, and operations.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL (Batch & Online).
• Extensive experience with IMS DB (HDAM/HIDAM, PSB, DBD).
• Solid experience in IMS DC (MPP, BMP, message queues).
• Good understanding of JCL, utilities, and batch scheduling.
• Experience with VSAM datasets.
• Familiarity with z/OS environment.
• Knowledge of debugging and performance tuning tools.
