Job Summary for Commercial Construction Project Engineer

Overview: Division 9, a family-owned company with a great work environment, and national footprint is seeking a Commercial Project Engineer who is proactive, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. This role requires experience in commercial interior finishes, including but not limited to flooring, countertops, millwork, cabinetry, paint, and other related finishes within multi-family and hospitality projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimating & Procurement:
- Accurately estimate costs for materials, labor, and other project-related expenses.
- Procure materials and services, ensuring timely deliveries and budget compliance.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and secure the best possible deals for the company.
- Project Management Support:
- Manage budgeting, scheduling, and cost tracking to ensure project completion within financial parameters.
- Ensure that all materials and finishes are ordered and delivered on time to meet project timelines.
- Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assist in coordinating the installation of finishes, ensuring that the project is completed to the client’s specifications.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Review and track submittals, shop drawings, and other project-related documentation.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure that all materials and finishes meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Be able to identify compatibility issues and conflicts in the drawings and effectively communicate to project stakeholders.
- Cost Tracking & Reporting:
- Track job costs and monitor the budget throughout the course of the project.
- Report on project financial status and identify any discrepancies or issues that need to be addressed.
- Support Sales:
- Assist with client development and engagement
- Develop networking opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in interior finishes (flooring, cabinetry, countertops, etc.).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software, estimating tools, and general office software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the commercial construction industry.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, vendors, and clients.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues in project execution and find timely, cost-effective solutions.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in project documentation, budgeting, and procurement.
