Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN Trainer) to provide clinical oversight, nursing services, and staff training within our residential program. This role is hands-on and requires strong clinical judgment, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to medical needs and emergencies across multiple residential settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesMedication & Clinical Oversight
- Review, maintain, and update Medication Administration Records (MARs)
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed
- Conduct narcotic medication counts and ensure compliance
- Coordinate with pharmacies to ensure accuracy of all medications
- Implement and document medication changes per provider orders
- Perform medication reconciliation and ongoing medication reviews
Client Care & Assessments
- Conduct body checks and incident-related nursing assessments
- Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions
- Coordinate and facilitate hospital transfers when necessary
- Accompany clients to medical appointments as needed
Training & Staff Support
- Train direct care staff on medication administration, documentation, and health protocols
- Provide ongoing education related to medical policies, procedures, and compliance
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff across residential homes
Coordination & Collaboration
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other providers
- Schedule and coordinate laboratory work and diagnostic services
- Facilitate and participate in telehealth appointments
- Act as a client representative/liaison when required
Presence & Availability
- Be present in residential homes daily and as needed
- Provide on-call nursing support, including weekend emergencies
- Ensure timely response to urgent clinical issues
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete accurate, timely nursing documentation
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, agency policies, and nursing standards
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (community health, residential, behavioral health, or developmental disabilities preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medication management and MAR documentation
- Experience with staff training and clinical oversight preferred
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Ability to travel between residential homes
