What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2-3 Grade Teacher position at Divine Mercy Academy?
Divine Mercy Academy, an independent classical school offering grades pre-K to 8th in the Catholic tradition, is looking for passionate, hardworking candidates to fill the position of second and third grade combined classroom teacher for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The qualified candidate(s) is an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Catholic educator. Such a candidate should be able to manage a classroom with discipline, ease, and consistency, provide accurate instruction with clarity at an age-appropriate level, and adapt to changing situations when necessary.
The ideal candidate(s) possesses the qualities stated above - and is also a passionate educator who will seize the opportunity to join DMA's adventurous teaching team in the pursuit of their one goal above all others - to form students into saints. This candidate should possess teaching experience in classical pedagogies, find fulfillment by providing personalized and excellent instruction to students in the foundations of Western civilization and the Catholic Church, and grow excited at the prospect of joining a school with DMA's unique qualities, and thus of leaving their mark on an institution at the forefront of Catholic education in Western Montana.
Any candidate must be a practicing Catholic who sets an example to DMA students of a faith-filled life centered on the teachings of the Church.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Education, or a related field
Montana or another state teaching certification preferred (certification not required)
Relevant classroom experience preferred
Must be a practicing Catholic
Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
Knowledge of the subjects taught and of grade-level instructional methods and strategies
Ability to manage student behavior in a classroom
Excellent verbal and oral communication skills
Ability to work well with others in the school community
Confidence in multitasking and differentiating instruction
Confidence in motivating and engaging students
Confidence in managing job-appropriate technology
Job Responsibilities:
Support and uphold the DMA Mission and Vision and the general philosophy of Catholic education
Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters
Plan instruction with specific student objectives based on adopted school-wide curriculum
Use appropriate methods, materials, and resources to engage students in learning
Maintain current and accurate records
Manage a classroom of young children with positive, consistent, and charitable discipline
Contact parents, other teachers, and administration as needed and appropriate on student matters
Meet faculty development guidelines as set forth by administration
Demonstrate professional work habits through punctuality, deadline meeting, and prompt communication
