Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic 3rd Shift Medical Technician (Med Tech) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role involves providing exceptional patient care during overnight hours, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents and patients. As a Med Tech on the third shift, you will play a crucial part in supporting nursing staff, managing medical documentation, and delivering compassionate care in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. Your expertise will help create a nurturing environment that promotes health, dignity, and independence for individuals with diverse needs, including those with memory impairments or disabilities.
Duties
- Administer medications and treatments accurately following physician orders and established protocols, including tube feeding and catheter care.
- Monitor and record vital signs, physiological responses, and changes in patient condition using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Assist residents with daily activities such as mobility, personal hygiene, and nutrition while maintaining dignity and respect.
- Observe and document patient responses to medications and treatments, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation confidentiality.
- Support residents with specialized care needs including Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice support, and memory care programs.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding patient status updates, medical records management, and incident reports.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures and safety protocols during all caregiving activities.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration procedures.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Familiarity with caring for individuals with disabilities or complex health conditions like Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, catheter care, tube feeding support, and hospice-related procedures.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and family members.
- Must hold valid certifications relevant to medical assisting or nursing support; additional certifications in hospice or memory care are a plus.
