Divine House, Inc. is a corporate adult foster care company throughout Minnesota. We are in need of a full-time administrative RN for our Willmar Office
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide services to consumers and supervise and train all direct care staff in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, agency policies and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse shall provide nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory and nursing process, and communication/documentation of observations and assessments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assumes responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and standards set forth by the Board of Nursing, and maintain a current unrestricted Registered Nurse.
· Conducts an individualized comprehensive assessment of consumer’s status, both immediate and emerging needs including but not limited to physical, psychological, and environmental parameters as needed or requested.
· Foster open communication with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), consumers, family members, staff and work to resolve any issues or concerns.
· Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as required, requested or as appropriate.
· Utilize the nursing process (assess, diagnosis, implement, document and evaluate).
. Travel in and around the Willmar area.
· Monitor consumers for changes in condition, reporting significant changes in consumer status to the health care provider and other members of the IDT in a timely manner or as needed.
· Provide education to consumers and staff.
· Provide orientation to new staff.
· Practice nursing with respect for individual, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, familial status, disability, public assistance, age, sexual orientation.
· Provide monitoring of side effects of psychotropic medications as requested by the prescriber or as required by Licensing rule.
· Consistently demonstrate competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.
· Document legibly and maintain orderly consumer’s records.
· Initiate referrals to other health care provider’s when needed or when requested by the Case Manger or the Legal Representative.
· Take the initiative to recognize and respond appropriately to potentially unsafe situations.
· Demonstrate knowledge of safety/infection control practices.
· Participate in ongoing training. It is expected that a Registered Nurse will identify ongoing training needs as they pertain to their job duties.
· Recognize when additional training is needed by staff.
· Maintain confidentiality.
· Supervise direct care staff.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Provide instruction to staff on the use of medical equipment to sustain life or monitor a medical condition as defined in MN Statute 245A.155.
· When appropriate, it is the Registered Nurses responsibility to work with the consumer, the consumer’s health care provider and the consumers interdisciplinary team, including the legal representative (if applicable), to assure that the proper advanced care planning is completed, reviewed and updated as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
· Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state(s) of practice.
· Minimum of one year experience preferred
· Current unrestricted driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.
· CPR certified.
· Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires prolonged sitting.
- Requires bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, crawling and/or stretching from seated or standing positions.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment, keyboard, telephone, copier, calculator and other office equipment.
- Requires close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust visual focus, hearing and smelling.
- Must be able to communicate information via telephone or computer.
- Requires moderate to intense concentration due to complexity of the job.
- Must be able to observe “Universal Precautions” for blood-borne pathogens and body fluids.
