Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience across various clinical settings, including acute care, critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient services. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, performing medical assessments, administering treatments, and ensuring adherence to healthcare standards such as HIPAA and infection control protocols. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The Registered Nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care tailored to diverse patient populations, including those with developmental disabilities, memory care needs, or in hospice and palliative settings.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
- Administer medications and injections safely while adhering to aseptic techniques and sterile processing standards.
- Manage airway support including ventilator management and oxygen therapy; perform IV insertions and catheter care.
- Provide specialized care such as wound suturing, ostomy care, tube feeding, dialysis support, and post-operative monitoring.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures like sonography or mammography.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, health coaching, and patient education tailored to individual needs.
- Respond effectively in emergency situations utilizing skills in trauma medicine, ICU protocols, Level I & II trauma center procedures, and acute pain management.
- Support patients across various settings including inpatient units like PICU or NICU, outpatient clinics, home & community care environments, and assisted living facilities.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure sterile techniques during invasive procedures such as spinal taps or catheterizations.
Experience
- Proven clinical experience in hospital medicine, ICU/trauma centers (Level I & II), emergency rooms or urgent care settings.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatric (neonatal ventilator), geriatric (memory/dementia care), behavioral health, or patients with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with complex medical procedures such as cardiac catheterization, CPT coding for billing purposes, or advanced diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to infectious disease care, pharmacology for medication administration and pain management strategies.
- Prior roles involving post-acute care or discharge planning in settings like nursing homes or sub-acute facilities are highly valued.
- Additional skills include proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner), ICD coding (ICD-9/10), laboratory testing procedures including phlebotomy/venipuncture, and familiarity with Workers’ Compensation law when applicable.
