The Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. Primary focus will include balance sheet reconciliations, cash forecasting, and cost allocations while playing a critical role in the month-end close, financial reporting, and supporting the annual audit of financial statements. ROLE
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. Primary focus will include balance sheet reconciliations, cash forecasting, and cost allocations while playing a critical role in the month-end close, financial reporting, and supporting the annual audit of financial statements. This position requires a high level of professionalism and discretion, as you will handle confidential financial information and help ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
- Take ownership of preparing and maintaining the monthly balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Investigate and resolve variances, aged items, and discrepancies.
- Ensure balance sheet accounts comply with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Participate in the month-end and year-end close.
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and audit support documentation.
- Prepare and maintain cash forecasts.
- Partner with AP and AR to understand the timing of inflows and outflows.
- Maintain and review cost allocation methodologies across departments, cost centers, and projects.
- Track and maintain equipment usage and cost across cost centers and projects.
- Prepare recurring and non-recurring accruals, ensuring expenses are recognized in the proper period.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong experience with balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to make a significant contribution to the company’s business success.
- Experience in the construction services industry is highly preferred.
