The Mental Health Counselor provides direct therapeutic support through individual and group interactions. This role collaborates with clinical leadership and multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans, support emotional development, and maintain a safe, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling under clinical supervision
- Support implementation of therapeutic programming and activities
- Assist youth in developing coping skills and emotional regulation
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
- Participate in weekly supervision and consultation meetings
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation (progress notes, treatment plans, reports)
- Participate in treatment planning and team discussions
- Support family engagement and communication when appropriate
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, Social Work, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children or adolescents in behavioral health
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Must obtain certification in the treatment of sexually aggressive youth within one year of hire (training provided after probationary period)
- Experience in residential or structured treatment programs
- Experience working with trauma-impacted youth
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to work assigned shift (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Ability to obtain required clearances
- Ability to reliably commute to Williamsport, PA
