What are the responsibilities and job description for the Municipal Software Support Specialist position at Diversified Technology Corp?
For over 30 years, Diversified Technology Corp has built the specialized billing software that keeps government and municipal utility authorities running — backed by a support network that doesn’t exist anywhere else in our industry. Today we support 350 clients nationwide, and every one of them knows our team by name.
We’re hiring a Municipal Software Support Specialist: the person our clients call when they need an answer, and the one who grows into a true expert on the systems thousands of residents rely on every month. If you like solving problems, owning your work, and being the person people trust, read on.
What You’ll Own
You’ll be the primary point of contact for a portfolio of municipal utility clients — guiding them day to day, leading their software implementations from kickoff to go-live, and making sure nothing slips. Specifically, you’ll:
▪ Answer and resolve client questions quickly, becoming fluent in DTC’s billing and utility-management platforms
▪ Work hands-on with real billing operations: receipts, adjustments, penalties, interest, final billing, notice processing, and miscellaneous charges
▪ Configure and customize client systems — bill prints, notices, customer letters, and license updates
▪ Produce billable service quotes and keep support tickets current
▪ Lead implementation projects end to end: scoping requirements, holding timelines, and keeping clients informed
▪ Deliver client training, remote and on-site, and write the documentation and playbooks that set clients up to succeed
▪ Install application updates and perform system configurations in client environments
▪ Partner with teammates to sharpen our support processes and knowledge base
What Success Looks Like
By the end of your first year, you’ll independently own a set of client relationships, run implementations with minimal oversight, and be one of the people teammates come to with the tough questions.
Who You Are
▪ 2 years in a technology, software, or client-facing support role (Associate’s degree or high school diploma / equivalent)
▪ A clear communicator who can explain technical concepts to non-technical people — in writing and out loud
▪ Organized and self-directed: you juggle several client projects at once without letting things slip
▪ A self-starter who works well solo and thrives on a team
▪ Comfortable in Microsoft Office 365
▪ Bonus: familiarity with software, databases, or utility/municipal billing — but we’ll teach the right person
