Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)

We are seeking a highly experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to provide safety leadership on a large-scale federal construction project. This position requires a proven safety professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive a proactive safety culture across all site operations.

Qualifications

• 5 years of construction safety experience with a track record of success on complex projects
• CHST or CSP certification (required)
• OSHA 30 Hour Training (completed within the past 5 years)
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification (required)
• Must demonstrate strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 requirements and hold current 40-Hour certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all aspects of site safety and health for the project, ensuring compliance with federal and contractual requirements
• Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections, including hazard identification and corrective action tracking
• Investigate incidents and prepare required reports; maintain OSHA 300 logs and daily production reports
• Participate in pre-construction, preparatory, and progress meetings to align safety strategies with project operations
• Implement and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and safety plans
• Ensure subcontractor compliance with all safety and health standards and procedures
