We are seeking a highly experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to provide safety leadership on a large-scale federal construction project. This position requires a proven safety professional with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive a proactive safety culture across all site operations.
Qualifications
- 5 years of construction safety experience with a track record of success on complex projects
- CHST or CSP certification (required)
- OSHA 30 Hour Training (completed within the past 5 years)
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (required)
- Must demonstrate strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 requirements and hold current 40-Hour certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of site safety and health for the project, ensuring compliance with federal and contractual requirements
- Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections, including hazard identification and corrective action tracking
- Investigate incidents and prepare required reports; maintain OSHA 300 logs and daily production reports
- Participate in pre-construction, preparatory, and progress meetings to align safety strategies with project operations
- Implement and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and safety plans
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with all safety and health standards and procedures
