Job Title: National Safety Director – Diversified Roofing
Location: United States (National Role; Travel Required)

Position Overview
The National Safety Director is responsible for developing, leading, and enforcing a comprehensive safety strategy across all divisions of a diversified roofing organization, including commercial, residential, industrial, and service operations. This role provides executive-level leadership to ensure OSHA compliance, reduce incidents, promote a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement across all operating regions.
The ideal candidate is a decisive leader with deep construction and roofing safety experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to influence field operations at every level—from executive leadership to field crews.
Safety Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement a company-wide safety vision, policies, and procedures aligned with federal, state, and local regulations
- Serve as the organization’s senior authority on safety, risk management, and compliance
- Partner with executive leadership to integrate safety into business planning, operations, and growth initiatives
- Establish measurable safety KPIs and lead initiatives to reduce incident rates, claims, and liability
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with OSHA (Federal and State Plans), ANSI, DOT, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations
- Lead OSHA inspections, audits, incident responses, and corrective action plans
- Oversee fall protection, ladder safety, heat illness prevention, crane and rigging safety, confined space, and hot work programs
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and trend reporting
- Coordinate with legal counsel, insurance carriers, and third-party safety consultants
Field Operations & Regional Oversight
- Support Regional Safety Managers, Safety Coordinators, and Operations Leadership
- Conduct jobsite audits and field safety observations across multiple regions
- Ensure consistent safety standards while accommodating state-specific requirements
- Address high-risk activities including storm response, emergency repairs, and complex commercial or industrial work
Training & Safety Culture
- Design and oversee national safety training programs for leadership, supervisors, and field employees
- Ensure effective onboarding, annual refreshers, and task-specific training
- Promote a proactive, accountability-driven safety culture
- Lead toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and leadership engagement initiatives
Reporting & Analytics
- Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics (TRIR, EMR, DART, near misses)
- Provide executive-level reports with actionable insights
- Identify trends and implement targeted corrective action plans
Vendor & Subcontractor Safety
- Establish subcontractor safety standards and prequalification requirements
- Monitor and enforce compliance across all project partners
- Address safety performance issues promptly and consistently
Qualifications
Required:
- 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience in construction or roofing
- Multi-state safety oversight experience
- Expert knowledge of OSHA regulations and roofing safety practices
- Demonstrated success leading company-wide safety programs
- Ability to travel nationally (30%–50%)
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- CSP, CHST, OSHA Authorized Trainer, or similar certifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience with diversified trades (waterproofing, sheet metal, coatings, etc.)
