We are seeking an Accounting Manager – Operations Accounting to lead accounting activities that directly support our oil & gas field operations and midstream assets. This role sits close to the business and owns the financial integrity of costs and activities driven by production, field services, infrastructure, and asset operations.
The role is ideal for an accounting leader who can manage how wells, pipelines, vendors, crews, and materials ultimately flow into the financials and who is motivated by improving how operational data is captured, controlled, and analyzed in a public‑company environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Field‑Driven Operations Accounting
- Oversee accounting for Payroll, Benefits, and Insurance as they relate to field personnel, operational support teams, and service activities.
- Lead accounting for Salt Water Disposal (SWD) and Midstream Operations, ensuring accurate alignment of costs and activity with field operations and infrastructure usage.
- Own accounting for Lease Operating Expenses (LOE), including labor, services, chemicals, repairs, rentals, and other production‑driven costs.
- Oversee Gathering & Transportation (G&T) accounting tied to pipeline systems, compression, and third‑party transportation arrangements.
- Manage Inventory accounting, including materials, parts, usage, transfers, and reconciliation tied to field activity.
- Oversee Service Department billings, Material Transfers, and Payouts, ensuring operational accuracy across assets and entities.
- Maintain ownership of key working capital accounts, including prepaids, accrued liabilities, and other operational balance‑sheet accounts driven by field activity.
- Serve as a key accounting partner to Operations, Field Management, Midstream, AP, HR, and Treasury.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff supporting operational accounting functions.
- Translate field activity into clear, accurate financial outcomes that leadership can rely on.
- Design, execute, and maintain SOX‑compliant controls across operational accounting processes.
- Prepare and review audit‑quality support for internal and external audits.
- Identify control gaps and implement practical, operations‑friendly solutions that strengthen compliance without slowing the business.
- Drive automation and system improvements across ERP, sub‑ledgers, and operational data feeds.
- Improve how operational data (tickets, invoices, volumes, usage, service activity) flows into accounting.
- Leverage analytics and technology to improve cost visibility, trend analysis, and scalability.
- Champion continuous improvement across processes supporting a growing asset base.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Strong understanding of accruals, and cost behavior.
- Public‑company experience with SOX internal controls.
- Experience managing complex, high‑volume, operations‑driven transactions.
- Strong systems aptitude and advanced Excel skills.
- CPA or CPA‑eligible.
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, midstream, or asset‑intensive industries.
- Experience improving or automating operational accounting processes.
- Comfort working with imperfect operational data and helping improve it.
- Prolonged periods working at a desk in front of a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
