VMI/Direct Sales Position – Louisville, KY
This position is a hybrid role that combines delivery logistics with direct sales and customer relationship management. In this position, you follow a set weekly schedule to service established commercial accounts — while actively working to grow the company's footprint through up-selling and new client acquisition within the geography.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery & Logistics: Driving a vehicle in a designated territory to deliver & refill products at customer sites throughout the region.
- Sales & Growth: Meeting monthly & annual sales targets by up-selling additional products to current customers and calling new prospects within the territory.
- Vendor Managed Inventory/Vending Machine Refill Role: Ensuring products are stocked, counted, and order amounts are recorded for entry. This could be in vending machines or open stock areas at a customer.
- Account Management: Building long-term relationships with site stakeholders to resolve supply issues, explore sales growth opportunities, and communicate with account managers on implementing growth strategies.
Core Requirements
- Driving Credentials: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
- Physical Stamina: The ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and handle the physical demands of loading/unloading product throughout the day.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively problem solve with clients and represent the company in a proactive manner.
- Education: Typically requires a High School Diploma or GED; some advanced roles may prefer a degree in business or marketing.
- Strong personal value set: DiVal is a “values” driven company and teammates are required to demonstrate those values both internally, and in all dealings with our customers.
- Proficiency in sales software: CRM management & working within Excel, with ability to operate off of mobile tablet on site.
Typical Work Environment
- Early Starts: Shifts often begin as early as 7:00 AM to ensure all deliveries & refills are completed during customers business hours.
- Autonomy: Most of the day is spent working independently on the road.
- High Intensity: The job can be physically demanding and high-stress due to strict delivery schedules and sales quotas.
- Personal Protective Equipment: May (likely) require wearing safety equipment such as; eye protection, hand protection, body protection, reflective garments for increased visibility & safety footwear. All of which will be provided by employer.
