Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant with strong technical skills and attention to detail to join our team. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, small-firm environment and is comfortable handling both tax preparation and general accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and S-corporations
- Perform tax research and ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Communicate with clients to gather information and resolve tax-related issues
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Maintain and organize client chart of accounts
- Assist clients with basic bookkeeping and accounting needs
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and client tax savings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA license or CPA candidate preferred
- 4 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on tax
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance for individuals and small businesses
- Proficiency in UltraTax and Thomson Reuters software, QuickBooks, MS Office
- Experience with accounting functions such as reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
