What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Literacy Instructional Coach position at Districtwide?
2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR
The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding certified position of Secondary Literacy Implementation Coach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a 6-12 literacy implementation coach, partnering with teachers and administrators to strengthen standards-aligned, evidence-based literacy instruction
- Facilitate coaching cycles to improve instructional practice and student outcomes using effective, evidence-based literacy practices
- Collaborate with teachers and teams to design and implement instruction that develops students’ reading, writing, and thinking across content areas
- Collaborate with building and district leadership to support alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Provide job-embedded professional learning with follow-up support to ensure transfer into classroom practice
- Support teachers in analyzing student data and work to identify trends and make informed instructional decisions
- Promote equitable access to grade-level literacy through inclusive, asset-based instructional practices and appropriate scaffolding
- Build teacher capacity by fostering reflection, independence, and continuous improvement in instructional decision-making
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Missouri Certification in English Language Arts 5-9 or 9-12
- Master’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or Related Field
- A minimum of five years teaching experience

Regular teacher orientation start date is August 18, 2026.
187 Day Contract plus 5 extra days
