Job Summary
The chosen candidate will serve as one of various adjunct instructors teaching semiconductor boot camps to help build and strengthen the workforce pipeline in this critical industry sector. Boot camps will run in two week increments with a morning sections and afternoon sections throughout the semester and will be delivered at three campuses (CGC, EMCC, MCC).
Essential Functions
50% - Facilitates and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; maintains laboratories and laboratory equipment and facilities to OSHA standards and guidelines; makes simple repairs as needed or schedules repairs for program equipment;
15% - Promotes automation program and recruits students; mentors and educates faculty regarding changes in the curriculum and the program;
15% - Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops;
10% - Maintains academic support hours to assist and advise new, prospective and continuing students;
10% - Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District wide and campus committees.
Minimum Qualifications
The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:
1. A master's degree in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field, or
2. A bachelor's degree plus three (3) years full time equivalent technical work experience in the teaching field of career and technical skills, or an associate's degree or 64 semester credit hours and five (5) years full time equivalent of technical work experience in the teaching field, or five (5) years full time equivalent technical work experience in the teaching field
3. EDU 250 - a course for Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire
Desired Qualifications
Five (5) years’ work experience in an industrial, manufacturing, and automation technician job role Demonstrated excellence in communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications
Previous experience with an online LMS (Canvas)
3 years semiconductor experience and competencies such as clean room protocols, hand tools, vacuum technology, model based problem solving, and lean manufacturing etc.
Special Working Conditions
Work will be performed in a classroom and modeling a clean room environment preparing students to work in a semiconductor fab.
Ability to work with SMC200 automation simulators and vacuum technology simulators
