SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

FULL TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or greater in School Psychology (at least 60 graduate semester hours)
- A Valid certificate to practice as a school psychologist.
- Experience with a variety of IQ and achievement assessments.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong writing skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
SALARY:
Per Rochester Education Association Master Agreement
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Special Education, Building Principal
SUPERVISES: None
JOB GOAL: Provide direct support and interventions to students, consult with teachers, families, and other staff as part of multidisciplinary teams in order to evaluate students with disabilities, improve support strategies, work with school administrators and teachers to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtains, integrates, and interprets information about a child’s learning and behavior learning from a variety of sources:
- administration and assessment of development, psychological processing and academic achievement tests (using standardized tests, curriculum-based measures, performance assessment, self-reports and other appropriate methods).
- use of interviews, observations and performance assessments to understand learning and behavior problems.
- the evaluation of affective and social-emotional functioning of children through observation, behavioral inventories, and other procedures.
- Performs assessment including psychoeducational testing and recommends alternatives and/or placement for all students.
- Helps identify all types of exceptional students within the school and recommends corrective procedures.
- Confers with teachers and parents in planning appropriate school programs.
- Consults on educational needs of all students including students in general education classes, special education classes and categorical programs.
- Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary collaboration with Building Team meetings at the preschool, elementary, and secondary levels, Categorical Team meetings, Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team meetings, Building Crisis Team meetings, and Individual Educational Planning Team meetings.
- Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for teachers and administrators.
- Conducts individual, group, or facilitates support for students who may benefit from intervention.
- Acts as liaison and cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
- Attends staff professional development meetings.
- Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Executive Director or the Building Principal.
