Middle School Coach - Head Volleyball

The Norristown Area School District is looking for a Head Middle Volleyball Coach for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Middle School Head Volleyball  Coach provides leadership, supervision, and organization for the middle school Volleyball  program. In collaboration with the High School Head Coach and Athletic Director, the coach is responsible for aligning instructional terminology and fundamental skill development to ensure a competitive and safe environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Demonstrated coaching experience; previous experience at the middle school or high school level is preferred
• Deep knowledge of sport-specific strategy, player development, and competition preparation
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License required.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented.
• Ability to work as a coordinator and a member of a team while communicating effectively.
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and work under periods of stress.
• Ability to recognize areas of concern (player safety, team dynamics) and propose appropriate solutions.
• Demonstrates effective field/classroom management skills and possesses conflict mediation skills.
• Knowledge of budgets and ability to monitor budget processes.
• Strong organizational, strategic planning, and pro-social collaboration skills.
• Ability to be flexible, self-directed, and work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the high school coaching staff to align instructional terminology and coaching philosophies. Provides direct instruction in Volleyball  fundamentals to middle school student-athletes.
• Oversees all aspects of the middle school program, including scheduling, practices, and competitions. Provides leadership to assistant coaches to ensure alignment with district standards.
• Advises student-athletes on academic standards and fosters an inclusive environment that accounts for diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Researches modern safety protocols, including concussion management. Identifies equipment needs and assists with the proper fitting of protective gear. Maintains familiarity with PIAA and District eligibility requirements.
• Designs practice plans and utilizes digital video analysis software for film review. Prepares budgetary requests for equipment and monitors expenditures.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians, maintaining transparent communication regarding schedules and expectations
• Additional duties as assigned
