What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Building Substitutes (8) position at DISTRICT?
Current vacancies exist at the Norristown Area School District for Building Substitutes at the Elementary School Level for the 2026-2027 School Year. If you are currently an Elementary Building Substitute you will need to re-apply. The vacant positions are at the at the following Buildings:
- Musselman Learning Center (1)
- Cole Manor Elementary School (1)
- Whitehall Elementary School (1)
- Marshall Street Elementary School (1)
- Davenport Elementary School (1)
- Paul V. Fly Elementary School (1)
- Hancock Elementary School (1)
- Elementary level Floater (1)-Floaters will assist among the buildings in the level as needed.
Qualifications:
- PA Elementary Level Certification required
- Experience with Elementary School students preferred
- Ability to be adapt to new environments and changes
- Current Child Abuse, criminal history and FBI clearances, required.
- Bilingual in Spanish Preferred.
Duties & Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning where students employ work/study habits which have been clearly defined
- Provides an education atmosphere consistent with the District’s instructional goals
- Monitors student behavior to ensure it is consistent with District policy
- Implements instruction that encourages student participation in learning activities
- Utilizes appropriate instructional strategies to address individual student differences
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment
- Facilitates the development of good work/study habits in students
- Cooperates and collaborates with other members of the staff
- Communicates with parents/guardians to discuss student progress as needed
- Interacts with pupils, staff and parents in a positive and professional manner
- Keeps abreast of best practices in the relevant subject area(s)
