Position Description
POSITION TITLE: District Instructional Specialist
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Mississippii teaching certificate,
- Positive interpersonal relationship skills,
- Demonstrated team building skills,
- Masters in Curriculum & Instruction (preferred but not required),
- Valid license in administration (preferred),
- Minimum of five years of effective teaching experience,
- Curriculum development and test data analysis experiennce (preferred),
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects,
- Excellent interpersonal relations to work effectively with teachers, principals, and district administrators,
- Ability to effectively communicate information both orally and in writing
- Computer literate in use of Office software programs
- Experience in training adults or developing and leading professional development workshops preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide professional development training and continued support.
Support curriculum development implementation that may include ensuring internal and external alignment, developing curriculum maps & identifying support resources.
Work with building administrators and teachers in using data to improve individual and school performance.
Work with teachers on developing and implementing effective assessments, both across the district and within classrooms.
Model and support teachers in the implementation of all instructional strategies.
Assist teachers in integrating technology into classroom instruction.
Promote the sharing of effective teaching practices among staff throughout the district.
Serve as a resource to principals in the areas of curriculum, assessment and instruction.
Remain current with best practices and current research on teaching and learning.
