Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Curriculum and Learning is responsible for coordinating and aligning the District’s curriculum with Minnesota academic standards, facilitating the curriculum review process, leading the District’s staff development program, and administering the District’s Multiple Tiered Systems of Support. The Director will work collaboratively with administration and faculty to lead a culture of creativity, innovation, and high-impact instruction. Building bonds and partnerships in learning environments with our faculty and staff is a priority.

 

The Director will play a significant role in promoting and implementing the District’s Strategic Plan related to Student Success and Learning. 

 

Job Qualifications:

 

Required: Valid MN Teaching License

Preferred: K-12 Principal Licensure

 

Preferred major field of study or degree emphasis: K-12 teaching license, graduate studies in Curriculum and Instruction and/or Educational Leadership.

 

Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform essential functions of the job: 

  • Working knowledge of best practices in curriculum, teaching, learning, and instruction
  • Working knowledge of Minnesota Academic Standards and associated assessments
  • Working knowledge of the MnMTSS Framework
  • Working knowledge of best practices in using technology to transform teaching and learning
  • Understanding and background in implementing Tiered Systems of Support
  • Experience in overseeing Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Strategies
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the Read Act requirements
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness reporting requirements
  • Understanding and working knowledge of instructional strategies in Special Education

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and directs the District’s curriculum review process to ensure high-quality teaching strategies and alignment to Minnesota standards.
  2. Plans and directs the acquisition of instructional resources to support the District curriculum.

  3. Plans and directs the District’s professional development programs for licensed teaching staff.
  4. Support's the District’s work in the implementation of the MnMTSS Framework.

  5. Facilitates community involvement in District goals.
  6. Facilitates and supports the continuous improvement of Professional Learning Communities in conjunction with the District’s Q-Comp program.

  7. Facilitates and supports the district and individual school improvement plans.
  8. Facilitates and supports digital environments for teaching and learning.
  9. Works cooperatively with the Superintendent to develop and achieve strategic goals and updates action plans found within the District’s Strategic Plan.
  10. Works with the MDE to keep current with K-12 Academic Standards implementation, has a working knowledge of the MDE rulemaking procedures, and is aware of public comments on standards and benchmarks.
  11. Oversees numerous committees related to equity and curriculum like the District Advisory Committee and The Native American Indian Education Committee.

  12. Maintain reports and oversee grants related to curriculum and learning, including the Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness Report.
  13. Work cooperatively with community partners to establish relations for students’ experiences and workplace experiences in the Proctor High School Pathways Culture.  
  14. Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as apparent or assigned.

 

Salary:  $75,000 - $110,000 dependent upon relevant experiences and licensure held at time of hire.
