REPORTS TO: Daycare Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Satisfy Requirements for Child-Care Employees as defined by TAC 746.1017.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provides infant/toddler students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Noncontractual (At Will) Manual Trades/ Pay Grade 3
168 Days, Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the child care program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and requirement that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Conducts assessments of student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.
- Assist in preparing food for children and serve meals, refreshments, and rest periods to children.
- Maintains classroom behavior management system. Promotes positive behavior such as children taking responsibility for own clothing and picking up toys and books.
- Dresses children and changes diapers as well as observe and monitor children’s play activities.
- Identifies signs of emotional or developmental issues in children and bring them to the parents’ or guardians’ attention.
- Instructs children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
- Keeps records on individual children, including daily observations and information about learning activities, meals served, and medications administered.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Promotes teamwork and interaction with fellow staff members.
- Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
- Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedures for absences.
- Provides complete and accurate information, while maintaining confidentiality, in the conduct of district business.
- Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
- Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including computer, copier, printer, calculator, and audio visual equipment.
