School Nutrition Food Service Assistant
The job of Food Service Assistant is done for the purpose/s of serving complete nutritious meals to students, faculty and staff daily; and utilizing established food safety practices.
- Maintains accuracy and privacy of student accounts (e.g., free and reduced meal status, meal count, etc.) for the purpose of providing documentation to meet state, federal and/or administrative requirements. All Information is confidential.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Performs the duties of a Food Service Assistant as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of ensuring the effective and timely completion of their work duties.
- Responds to inquiries of students, staff and/or the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type of meals.
- Assist with the receiving, distributing and inventory maintenance of USDA product at the SN Central Warehouse.
- Follows instruction and guidance of Manager and Assistant Manager and willing to learn and be instructed to help with product and recipe development.
- Must be able to perform tasks involving moderate lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying, pushing, and pulling & be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Complete and document accurate data from daily food production for record keeping, as well as using safe equipment practices and all food temperatures accurately recorded during food preparation and meal service.
- Create a positive work environment in the cafeteria and kitchen with co-workers, school staff, parents and students.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Experience in the food service industry preferred
Work Hours:
10 month (183 days), 6 Hours/day
