Compensation:

Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7998

Hours Per Day: Varies based on vacancies each day

Contracted Days: This is a non-contracted position-work availability varies based on need

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· High School Diploma, G.E.D., or satisfactory progress towards G.E.D.

Knowledge Of:

· Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites

· Classroom management techniques

· Documentation and record-keeping techniques

· Communication skills

· Policies and objectives of assigned program and activities

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Monitor students and assure proper conduct in the lunchroom.  Help establish and maintain a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria so that students may find mealtime a time to relax after the tasks of the morning and to refresh themselves for the tasks of the afternoon; to maintain cleanliness of food service facilities.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:

· Monitor students and assure proper conduct in the lunchroom.

· Collaborate with food service staff and principal to best meet the needs of the school and students as necessary.

· Helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, both in terms of etiquette and nutrition.

· Circulate among tables during the meal period to be available to help students as needed.

· Demonstrate a positive attitude towards good nutrition.

· Follow all safety and emergency procedures established by the district and/or school.

· Maintain the cleanliness and order of the lunchroom.

· Protect confidential information of students and fellow staff members.

· Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and all other procedures/policies applicable to assignment.

· Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.

· Follow proper reporting procedures for all matters including but not limited to behavioral issues, bullying, suspected child abuse or neglect, etc.

If approved as a substitute lunchroom monitor, you will be required to complete all state and Board mandated trainings.
