What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Custodian position at DISTRICT WIDE?
JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Meet physical requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb and work from ladder, scaffolding, or personnel lift
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Training and experience in mechanics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, electricity and painting desired
- Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
- Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license required
- Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. This includes:
- Cleaning and maintaining all equipment as assigned.
- Reporting major repairs or damage to school property promptly to the Building Head Custodian, Principal or Director of Buildings and Grounds.
- Locking of doors and windows of assigned building(s).
- Cleaning corridors during the day when conditions require it.
- Assists in the moving of classroom furniture, materials, and equipment when need arises.
- Duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to time.

Terms of Employment: Substitutes are called and used on an “as needed basis” with no guarantee of hours or days.Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision
