Contract: 180 Days / 7 Hours per Day / Instructional Assistant Salary Schedule
Reports to: Director of Federal Programs
Job Function: Serve as a Family/Home-to-School Liaison
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provide translation services as applicable
- Assist the English Learner (EL) teacher in maintaining records that determine academic and behavioral needs
- Make direct contact with families via phone, Remind or other messaging system, email, and in-person when applicable
- Collaborate with Family Resource Youth Service Centers (FRYSCs) to find resources for students and families
- Assist classroom teachers in helping them to understand EL subgroup populations and their diverse needs
- Complete necessary training to assist in the administration of WIDA screeners and ACCESS testing
- Be available for phone calls during the school day to assist with emergency needs and enrollments
- Use grammatically correct language which includes age-appropriate vocabulary, first person language, appropriate tone of voice, and reinforcement procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of individual students and their families, as well as all student educational records.
- Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations including PBIS and de-escalation techniques. May require annual training and re-certification in safe crisis management. Complete all required yearly training.
- Maintain regular attendance. Report your absence to the supervisor and in the absence reporting system as specified by the district.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Preference will be given to individuals with bilingual skills.
Minimum qualifications: 48 college credit hours, successful completion of the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment, or completion of an associate degree.
