Reports to: Manager of Food Services

Job Summary:

Provide students and staff with a nutritional, eye-appealing meal while ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment according to HACCP regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Prepare all items according to standardized recipes; complete calculations of recipes to assure desired yield and quality.
• Apply principles of safe and sanitary food handling, preparation and storage.
• Complete paperwork to include what inventory was used.
• Monitor serving lines to ensure enough menu items are in warmers and refrigerators.
• Count and measure remaining supplies at the end of the day.
• Convey food supply needs to coordinator for ordering process.
• Put away and properly store materials when deliveries arrive.
• Prepare materials for the following day including removing inventory from the freezer and storeroom.
• Ensure ovens, steamers, serving lines and warmers are on at the start of the day and off at the end of the day; clean equipment; sweep and mop floors; report suspected mechanical problems to coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Food Services

Education & Experience: 

• One (1) year experience in baking and/or food service operations desired.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge in the food service industry with an understanding of nutrition, sanitation, and food safety required.
• Safe Serve Certification required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to reach above and below the waist.
• Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. 
• Ability to use both hands for repetitive motion
• Ability to bend, twist and kneel.
• Ability to lift/carry supplies weighing 30 lbs. or more.
• Ability to stand or walk for an extended period of time.
• Occasional kneeling, crouching and squatting
• Occasional reaching and stretching
• Occasional pulling, pushing

Pre-employment Paperwork Requirements:

• Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprinting Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
• Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure release (Act 168) forms
• School Personnel Health REcord and TB Test

Level of Compensation:

This position's salary is determined by the collective bargaining plan for Support Staff Employees. The starting salary for this position is $21.71/hour. After the completion of the 90-day probationary period, this position is eligible for a raise to bring the salary to $22.23/hour. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
