Split Assignment: One Elementary School and One High School

Job Summary: The ELD (English Language Development) Teacher’s Assistant supports ELD Teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and reinforcement for English Learners across two school locations—one elementary and one high school. This position plays a vital role in assisting with classroom instruction, providing small-group and individualized support, administering assessments, and maintaining accurate student records. The ELD Teacher’s Assistant contributes to creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that fosters language development and academic success
Job Responsibilities – ELD Teacher’s Assistant
- Assist ELD Teachers in implementing instruction aligned with state and federal English Language Development standards.
- Provide classroom support to help students meet language and academic goals through reinforcement and individualized attention.
- Prepare instructional materials, activities, and lesson components under teacher guidance.
- Support students in developing English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across all subject areas.
- Assist with administering and scoring language assessments, including WIDA ACCESS, and accurately record results.
- Maintain organized records of student progress and documentation of growth as directed.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and confidence.
- Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce lessons and adapt instructional strategies as guided by ELD Teachers.
- Support ELD screening procedures and help identify students in need of services.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to assist English Learners in mainstream classrooms.
- Support communication with families regarding student progress, as requested by ELD staff.
- Assist in staff meetings, professional development, or training sessions by preparing materials and offering support as needed.
- Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment and manage routines effectively.
- Supervise and support students during transitions, activities, and other non-classroom times as assigned.
Qualifications
- Two years of Post-Secondary Education
- Pennsylvania State Police Clearance for Employment
- Child Abuse Clearance for Employment
- FBI Fingerprinting
- School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test
- Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
- Act 126/Mandated Reporter training
