JOB TITLE - Custodial Supervisor

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR - Coordinator of Building and Grounds
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM - Director of Human Resources and Operations
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION - Under supervision of the Coordinator of Building and Grounds, provide primary contact, work assignment, and management of the custodial program; direct the custodial staff in technical and administrative aspects; and evaluate the level of custodial effectiveness. Provide a clean learning environment for the students, staff, parents, and community members.

Education

- Post-secondary education preferred.
Certification/Licensure

Experience
- 5 years of custodial experience preferred.
- 3 years of management or supervisory experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Administer conditions of employment per the collective bargaining agreement, board policies, and administrative guidelines.
- Determine staffing needs, conduct interviews, and recommend candidates for hire.
- Supervise and evaluate custodial staff and provide recommendations regarding continued employment and assignments.
- Report to the Coordinator of Building and Grounds on all matters of relevance.
- Develop equipment and product specifications and determine appropriate acquisition of materials.
- Coordinate snow removal with Coordinator of Building and Grounds.
- Understanding of the processes used to maintain all buildings, including electrical, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general grounds with the Coordinator of Building and Grounds.
- Work in cooperation with the Director of Business Services on annual and periodic district requirements for inclusion in the annual budget.
- Ensure that custodial services meet the needs of the department.
- Enforce rules and policies regarding employee conduct by advising custodial personnel of the rules and policies on employee conduct.
- Collaborate effectively with other district administrators regarding processes, custodial support, and any other applicable issues.
- Advise immediate supervisor on the condition of buildings and facilities.
- Conduct regular inspections and manage custodial services of district facilities.
- Schedule work activities and adjust workloads to compensate for scheduled and unscheduled absences, changing priorities, and special custodial projects.
- Assist in monitoring and coordinating district security building procedures, equipment and systems.
- Prepare accurate reports as required by the district, federal, state, or local agencies, and submit them in a timely manner.
- Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Assist in the development of a preventive maintenance program, completing work orders and facility inspections as required.
- Determine, schedule, and coordinate projects as needed.
- Train custodians in essential job functions, procedures, safety and security measures, and provide in-service programs in coordination with the Coordinator of Building and Grounds.
- Respond positively to the needs of building administrators, district staff, and community members.
- Manage custodial services in all district facilities.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents and the community.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS -

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS -
- Satisfactory health as certified by a medical authority
- Repetitious bending, lifting and hand movement.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work overhead periodically.
- Must be capable of lifting 80 lbs periodically.
- Ability to work while standing, moving, and walking.
- Drug tobacco, and alcohol free while working.
- Work a flexible schedule that will require work at any shift, and day.
WORKING CONDITIONS -
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Frequent exposure to extreme and/or inclement weather.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, hazardous materials and emergency situations
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT -
- Administrator contract.
- 12 Month position.
- Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.
- Performance evaluated annually.
Salary : $67,000 - $72,000
