TITLE: ASSISTANT COORDINATOR OF ATHLETICS AND AQUATICS
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time athletic and aquatics management and support position; salary commensurate with experience and education, eligible for benefits in line with offerings through the Town of Seekonk. The Assistant Coordinator of Athletics & Aquatics has a flextime work schedule to facilitate their ability to act as the onsite athletic trainer for events and provide visibility after school hours and at athletic functions.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 1, 2026
REPORTS TO: Dean of Athletics and Programs
LOCATION: Seekonk Public Schools, with responsibilities at Seekonk High School (SHS) and Hurley Middle School (HMS)
NB: The Assistant Coordinator of Athletics and Aquatics may not hold seasonal coaching positions within the district concurrent with management responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Certified Athletic Trainer
- Certified or certifiable lifeguard and Red Cross lifeguard instructor
- Certified or certifiable Pool Operator
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Basic understanding of all sports and operational procedures.
- A degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, or a related field or a minimum of two years experience in a related area.
- Wide range of experience with student athletics across ages, genders, and skill levels.
- Willingness to attend all state, regional, and local meetings pertaining to athletics and general, relevant operation of the schools(s).
- Experience with Unified sports is desirable.
- Knowledge of rules and procedures of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and athletic scheduling systems.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:
- Supports administration of the overall athletic program, including scheduling, reports, purchasing, revenue tracking, and communications.
- Provides athletic training services at all necessary events and to student athletes at other times as needed.
- Manages pool operations with support from the Facilities & Maintenance department.
- Serves as the SPS lifeguard instructor and performs other lifeguard duties for SPS as directed.
- Responds to and communicates with parents of athletes and pool users as needed.
- Other duties related to athletics and aquatics as requested by administration.
Work Year: School year calendar, with dates negotiable as appropriate to MIAA seasons and school year.
Salary: $60,000-$75,000
