Saucon Valley School District seeks an anticipated full-time Spanish teacher for the 25-26 school year.
Reports To: Director of Special Education & Student Services
Position Goal: To coordinate and facilitate linkages between school, home, and community for the purpose of assisting parents and students in accessing and utilizing school and community resources; to assist in developing and implementing programs to improve student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
An individual with one of the following credentials will fill the position: Master's degree in areas of Social Work or Clinical Social Worker. Required to demonstrate his/her knowledge of and competence in coordinating and implementing intervention services for school-aged children (K-12). A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of student services or school district Student Assistance Team coordination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:
- Review and evaluate results of the student screeners and recommend appropriate multi-tier interventions for agency supports
- Assists with assessments of individual students and systems/organizational frameworks to improve student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes.
- Provides intervention for students and families in crisis while also addressing mental health concerns.
- Develop intervention plans to meet student needs, strengths, social and cognitive functioning, and cultural experiences.
- Refers students and their families to outside agencies (e.g. state agencies, medical professionals, counselors, foundations, charities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the need of students and families are met.
- Communicates with parents on behalf of school (e.g. attendance issues, available programs/services, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that an ongoing partnership between the home and school is formed.
- Assist pupils and families in matters of concern regarding school attendance.
- Assist parents in understanding the programs and objectives of the school and enhancing their involvement in the education of their children.
- Attend Student Assistance Team meetings and parent meetings. Attend staff meetings when requested.
- Cooperate with other staff members, administration, and parents in maintaining a collaborative relationship.
- Assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and actively participates in professional development activities designed to upgrade knowledge of subject matter and instructional strategies.
- Consult with stakeholders to facilitate understanding of factors in a student's home, educational agency, and community that affect their educational experience.
- Consult and collaborate with educational agency personnel, parents, and community resources in areas that impact student learning (e.g., mental health, behavior management, school safety, diversity, crisis management, bullying prevention, child abuse, and neglect).
- Work with individuals, groups, and organizations to develop programs and systems that promote student welfare and achievement.
