Job Summary
The Administrator of Student Engagement and Discipline will lead the development, implementation, and coordination of district-wide student discipline policies and procedures to foster a safe and orderly learning environment, promoting student success and well-being. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to student discipline and Title IX. The Administrator of Student Engagement and Discipline will provide leadership and guidance to school administrators and staff on effective discipline practices, intervention strategies, and student due process.
This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide student discipline policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Provide leadership, training, and professional development to school administrators and staff on student discipline, due process, and intervention strategies using the MTSS framework.
- Develop and implement intervention programs for students at risk of engaging in misconduct, including restorative practices and alternative education options.
- Foster a positive school climate that promotes social-emotional learning, student engagement, and responsible decision-making.
- Serve as a resource for school principals, assistant superintendents, and other administrators on matters related to student discipline and school safety.
- Collaborate with the district's legal team to ensure proper procedures are followed in student discipline cases.
- Prepare and submit reports and data analysis on student discipline and school safety as required by the district.
- Work collaboratively with various departments (e.g., Special Education, Counseling, Security, Law Enforcement, Community agencies) to ensure effective student support services.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student discipline and compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Special Education, or a related field.
- Valid DESE administrator's license or equivalent certification (e.g., Assistant Principal/Principal, Director, etc.) required
- Minimum of five years of experience in school administration, with demonstrated success in student discipline and behavior management.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices in student discipline.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to inform decision-making and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Experience with Restorative Practices, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and/or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) preferred.
Location: District
Salary: Exempt, 12 month (non-represented) position
Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Physical and Working Conditions: Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time in a busy office environment; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
