2025-2026 Chief of Police Silsbee ISD Police Department

Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage district police department. Coordinate daily operations of department to provide safe

environment for students and staff. Ensure enforcement of all federal, state, and local laws and

ordinances.

 QUALIFICATIONS

• Education / Certification:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent law enforcement experience and certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (“TCOLE”).
  2. Minimum of an Advanced Texas Peace Officer’s license.
  3. Master Peace Officer preferred.
  4. Successful graduation from the FBI National Academy preferred.
  5. Valid Texas Driver’s License required.

   

  Special Knowledge / Skills:

  1. Ability to manage budget and personnel.
  2. Knowledge of overall operations of a police department.
  3. Knowledge of criminal investigations, police report writing, and criminal law.
  4. Computer literacy and extensive knowledge with multiple computer platforms, programs, and systems.
  5. Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs.
  6. Bondable as required by Texas Education Code §37.081(h).
  7. Strong communication, public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

   

  Experience:

  1. Law enforcement experience in supervisory or command capacity is preferred.

Supervisor:  Reports to the Superintendent of Schools

Salary : $59,675 - $81,375
