This is an 8 hour per day, 190 days per year, Warehouse I - Nutrition Services position with benefits at the District Support Services Center. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible.

Hours for this position are 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  

The successful candidate is responsible for performing daily delivery services, receiving and warehousing inventory of District Nutrition Service Supplies.  

  

 

Minimum Qualifications: Box truck driving, heavy lifting.

REPORTS TO:                              Manager of Nutrition Services

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform various daily delivery services throughout the District and assist with receiving, warehousing and inventory of District Food Service supplies.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Load, deliver, and unload U.S. and inter-district mail, food items, and supplies between sites on a daily basis to ensure schools receive the products they need in a timely manner for meal service.
  • Receive and properly store food service warehouse supplies; assist with taking inventory of food and supplies at the central kitchen facility as directed to maintain an up-to-date inventory and provide for efficient delivery of products and supplies to schools.
  • Assist with organizing, rotating, and pulling nutrition services items daily; read order guides accurately for appropriate delivery of dry, refrigerated, and frozen foods and supplies; load items onto delivery and provide for efficient delivery of products on time.
  • Pick up bank deposits and related paperwork daily for the food service program and deliver to the food service office for processing.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other nutrition services employees and assist with the smooth central and school kitchen operations.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:

  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment to include, but not limited to: delivery vehicles with hydraulic lift gates ranging in size from 18-26 feet long, electric pallet jack, forklift and transportation equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor equipment repairs in the Central Kitchen.
  • Ability to perform light maintenance to delivery vehicles including fueling, washing, and reporting service needs to the transportation department
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret written instructions and perform basic math.
  • Physical ability to perform manual work associated with warehouse duties including lifting 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical ability to work in the warehouse, coolers, and walk-in freezers for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform tasks well under pressure, maintain accuracy of information, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and effective relations, work cooperatively, and communicate in a positive manner with school district staff, students, parents and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and to be flexible in meeting deadlines.
  • Valid Washington Driver’s License, including Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with acceptable driving record for the purpose of driving District delivery vehicles.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor(s).

 

Education:

  • High school graduation or its equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • One (1) year of experience or training in warehouse and delivery work. Vocational or technical training may substitute for work experience.
  • Previous experience with purchasing and shipping/receiving in a food distribution organization preferred.
