Corbett Summer Academy Instructional Assistant - Multiple positions grades K-8
Reports To: Summer Academy Coordinator
Salary: hourly rate aligned to the CACE Bargaining Agreement, Class 2 Steps 1-9, Range $18.80-$27.77
This is a temporary position for Summer School. Dates, hours, and site locations to be determined. Four days per week.

Job Summary:
To improve student achievement by providing instructional and non-instructional support to students under the supervision and guidance of a licensed teacher and/or school administrator; may function in an instructional setting separate from the teacher, exercising a considerable degree of skill with supervision within the framework of a teacher-planned and evaluated program; assists in providing a safe, healthy environment for students; and performing a variety of general clerical duties. Instructional Assistants will work to foster an engaging, camp-like culture that intentionally integrates both academic and social-emotional learning experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in creating a fun and positive “camp” culture where relationships are cultivated and students feel valued.
- Implement teacher-developed hands-on/place-based activities and lessons that encourage student creativity and self-expression while building reading, writing, and math skills.
- Provide direct instruction in literacy, mathematics, and/or designated enrichment areas aligned to program goals.
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies designed to accelerate student learning and skill development.
- Provide teachers data to document student progress
- Understand and maintain district guidelines regarding safety and confidentiality
- Provide students a safe and secure environment at all times. This may include playground supervision, crosswalk duty, cafeteria duty, monitor before school and small group management
- Clerical support and simple maintenance and operation of school equipment and supplies
- Maintain a confidential, non-preferential, non-judgmental manner towards the students, staff and program
- Work with a variety of students and demonstrate a willingness to gain the information and training necessary to work effectively
- Employ good judgment in a variety of situations, including emergencies
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, staff and general public
- Prepares instructional materials related to area of assignment
- Supervising students on the playground, in the cafeteria and at crosswalks
- Administer minor first aid
- Prepare instructional materials and maintain organized learning spaces.
- Follow District policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.
- Support equitable access and participation for all students regardless of background, identity, language, or ability level.

- Behavior Management - Implement district and/or building approved behavior interventions/management (i.e. PBS, CPC, Calming Corners, etc.)
- Data Input
- Assist in establishing a positive camp-like environment and respond to the individual needs of students
