TITLE: Coordinator of Student Services
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: DISTRICT LEVEL/GROUP 6
DIRECT REPORTS: Full-time (0); Part-time (0)
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Days. Salary is determined by the schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this classification is to ensure the District accomplishes its mission and strategic goals of implementing a fair and equitable code of conduct, assessing student behavior, and providing a safe environment in continuous improvement effects of District and school teams.
EDUCATION: Completion of Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of administrative experience in public schools.
REQUIRED: None.
PREFERRED: Valid SC certification as a school principal or superintendent. Completion of at least some of the graduate coursework leading to an advanced certificate or doctorate in Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide leadership through timely decision-making, problem-solving, and proactive action.
- Assist families with the completion of Zone Exemptions and Affidavits of Custody and Residence.
- Provide leadership for the District’s mentor program, including the review of background checks as needed.
- Assist with the District’s safety and emergency management program as needed; coordinate District and school-level reporting requirements.
- Assist with student suspension appeals and disciplinary expulsions including reviewing principals’ recommendations, training and communicating with hearing panels, and coordinating hearing appeals.
- Stay abreast of and interpret all laws, regulations, statutes, rules, and policies impacting the District, and coordinate activities regarding legal action.
- Assist families in resolving student discipline concerns at the school level.
- Update the Student Code of Conduct annually to reflect changes in federal and state law in addition to district policies.
- Serve as the District’s representative for Interscholastic Activities of Home-Schooled Students and the SC High School Leagues.
- Monitor district-wide attendance data and supervise the legal process for truancy interventions through the South Carolina Family Court System.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services with the implementation of safe, supportive, and effective schools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of District policies; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Knowledge of systems thinking and total quality management.

Use computers for word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations or custom applications.
