Qualifications:

To be found qualified at the GS-13 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.

Specialized Experience: is defined as experience that has equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Examples of such experience are: performing paralegal or legal work applying knowledge of laws, court and/or administrative decisions, and interpretation of rules, regulations, policies, and procedural requirements; performing case management involving criminal litigation; preparing court presentation; organizing exhibits containing visual material; preparing legal documents and briefs, including drafts for review and approval; analyzing litigation relative to activities; gathering and analyzing data, to evaluate its usefulness in resolving legal issues, preparing legal briefs and summaries of analyses; performing legal research for case development; verifying citations and statutory references, research and conducting analysis for legal relevance; summarizing data, making conclusions, and recommending appropriate action; reviewing incoming documents and determining need for preparation of legal documents; assembling information used for reports or responses to inquiries, to compose correspondence requiring legal or technical knowledge; preparing materials for attorney's to respond to correspondence or telephone calls; applying knowledge of legal terminology; applying knowledge of docket and reporting procedures; reporting status codes for caseloads; utilizing automation support hardware and software to automate legal and office support functions; performing data retrieval from legal and administrative subject-matter databases; locating, logging, indexing, filing and retrieving materials to develop discovery and exhibit lists; coordinating efforts to deliver services and work products to customers.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Responsibilities:

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing services in a supervisory capacity. Supervising team leaders with responsibility for coordinating and facilitating workload and activities performed by clerical, technical, administrative, and analytical employees. Providing advice to management officials and participating in the development and promulgation of policy and procedural manuals, including development and maintenance of guidelines and systems for staff. Typical work assignments will include: Typical work assignments will include:
  • Planning work to be accomplished by support employees in subordinate units.
  • Setting/adjusting short-term priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work.
  • Preparing individual work plans, performance standards, and performance evaluations for subordinate staff.
  • Interviewing and recommending candidates for subordinate positions.
  • Supervising legal research to determine issues and case worthiness.
  • Supervising coordination of evidence for presentation in court, discovery process, and preparation regarding responses to pre-trial motions, subpoenas and stipulations.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
