This vacancy is a 7.75hr/day position working 232 days per the school calendar.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Administrative Assistant shall:
- Possess a high school diploma.
- Have high school and/or supplemental training in typing, basic accounting procedures, and a thorough knowledge of general office operational procedures.
- Possess a minimum of one (1) year of successful administrative clerical experience in a business or educationally related area.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of commercial office productivity software
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

- Student Concerns

CLERICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- General Office:
- Compose, prepare, type, distribute and file memos, forms and correspondence as directed
- Reports and Bulletins:
- Be responsible for all school reports
- Be responsible for excuse card filing, daily attendance and attendance reports
- Be responsible for maintaining an up to date pupil information file
- Be responsible for typing and distributing the principal’s weekly staff newsletter
- Receive and distribute records of all elementary pupils
- Maintain files of guidance counselor
- Communications:
- Serve as building receptionist for students and the public
- Be responsible for telephone calls
- Be responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail
- Be responsible for the public address communication system of the
Building
- Be responsible for typing and sending notices to parents and children
- Be communication secretary for the guidance counselor
- Materials and Supplies:
- Maintain inventory, receive, check and distribute supplies and equipment
- Inventory, compile, school order for textbooks and distribute the same to classroom
MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILTIES
The Administrative Assistant shall:
- Temporary coverage for staff in the building
- Assist in the preparation of special projects or requests for information as directed by the principal
- Assist other secretaries under unusual circumstances and exceptional workload requirements
- Perform other duties as directed by District Administration
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office, Schools, meeting and conference areas. Work indoors and outdoors; visit classrooms and area employers.
- Position is in well-lighted and well-ventilated school buildings.
ATTENDANCE
- Regular attendance is required. Persistent absence, and/or leave without pay, is grounds for dismissal.
PHSYICAL DEMANDS
- Frequent travel to school district buildings.
- Frequent walking throughout various areas.
- Often sitting at a desk for extended periods.
- Standing for limited periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stopping, twisting, reaching, grasping, sitting and typing
- Moderate moving from 15 to 50 pounds.
- Some carrying – up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to use office equipment.
- Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding.
SENSORY ABILITIES
- Visual acuity to read correspondence and a computer screen.
- Auditory acuity to be able to use telephones.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly.
