Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Lead to oversee and manage our organization’s financial operations. This pivotal role requires a strong foundation in various accounting disciplines, including corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting, with a focus on ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as GAAP and Securities Law. Duties
- Lead the preparation and interpretation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support organizational decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to SOX controls and assist with internal and external audits (auditing) to maintain compliance.
- Maintain expertise in specialized areas such as LIHTC, securities law, wills, trusts & estate law, and other relevant legal frameworks impacting financial operations.
- Oversee the use of various accounting software platforms such as Sage, Xero, and other financial tools for efficient bookkeeping, reporting, and data management.
- Mentor, train, and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Support regulatory reporting requirements, including filings related to governmental agencies and nonprofit organizations.
- Participate in financial management activities such as budgeting, financial report writing, and strategic planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Proficiency with advanced accounting concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and accrual accounting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of complex regulatory environments such as Securities Law, GAAP, and specific industry standards like Non-profit or Governmental Accounting.
- Hands-on experience with multiple accounting software platforms including Sage, Xero, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of legal frameworks impacting finance such as Wills, trusts & estate law when applicable.
- Proven ability to mentor teams effectively while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Knowledge of Tax experience, Financial management, Budgeting, Forecasting, Private equity, and Financial services is highly desirable. This role is integral to maintaining the financial health of our organization through meticulous oversight of all accounting functions while supporting strategic growth initiatives through expert financial analysis and reporting.
