Yard Switcher

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Yard Switcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation, route driving, and automotive repair. The successful applicant will be responsible for driving and operating various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, to ensure the efficient loading and unloading of freight. This is a physically demanding role that requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety.

Duties:

- Drive and operate various types of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, to transport goods.
- Load and unload freight from vehicles, adhering to safety protocols and ensuring all cargo is securely fastened.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and minor repairs to ensure all vehicles are in good working condition.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to assist with loading and unloading freight.
- Navigate through tight spaces and challenging terrain, demonstrating exceptional route driving skills.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, cargo loads, and delivery routes.
- Collaborate with other yard switchers and warehouse staff to ensure seamless freight movements.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, reporting any incidents or concerns to management immediately.

Skills:

* Must have 5 years of Truck Driver experience

* Overt time as needed

*Work Schedule - 7pm - 7am, Tuesday - Friday

- Experience in heavy equipment operation, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers.
- Proficiency in automotive repair and maintenance.
- Strong route driving skills and experience navigating through tight spaces and challenging terrain.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects, demonstrating physical stamina and endurance.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.03 per hour
