What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR position at Distribution Management?
Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, this highly visible position will engage across business units within a growth-oriented, multi-site organization, dispatching orders. Working on-site within our St. Peter's, MO distribution center, the Transportation Coordinator will:
· Assign and schedule LTL carriers in real time while meeting strict service level expectations
· Collaborate with the Operations team to schedule and book bulk, LTL, and FTL freight
· Monitor and communicate service progress issues, including interfacing directly with clients
· Effectively communicate dispatch methods to distribution center partners
· Bid rates to clients and follow up on dispatch as necessary
· Manage and create BOLs using provided third-party information
· Compile data and forms and import into ERP
· Monitor and analyze carrier performance to service level expectations and analyze variance of estimated vs. actual costs, as well as transit time estimation vs. actual time
· Report on delivered and in-transit shipments
minimum requirements
· Excellent problem solving, multi-tasking skills as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
· Energetic, hardworking with a positive attitude
· Experience in Microsoft Office suite
· Ability to travel when needed (Less than 10%)
preferred qualifications
· BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or related field
· Freight brokerage, 3PL or transportation industry experience
· Freight brokerage biding and pricing
· Strong Excel and Outlook skills
