Distribution Management is seeking an experienced and innovative Safety Manager to champion our mission of providing a safe, secure, and efficient workplace. In this role, you will design, implement, and lead DM’s safety programs across our distribution center network. The Safety Manager will collaborate with DM leadership and external vendors to ensure compliance with company OSS policies and all applicable local, regional, and federal regulations. This position drives continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks, fostering a safe environment for all associates.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the VP of Distribution Centers, the Safety Manager will:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of local, regional, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
- Develop, lead, and oversee compliance with all DM OSS policies.
- Measure site and network performance against OSS requirements; identify deficiencies, create corrective plans, and drive accountability for implementation.
- Lead compliance efforts and recordkeeping for Hazmat, FDA, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
- Analyze OSS metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively to high-risk areas.
- Manage relationships with third-party safety vendors and security monitoring services.
- Demonstrate expertise in physical security assessments, system design, integration, and implementation of security measures.
- Conduct frequent site and network OSS audits; identify non-compliant equipment or processes and implement solutions to eliminate risks.
- Oversee network-wide 5S programs, ensuring adherence to organizational standards.
- Maintain and audit recordkeeping practices for compliance with DM OSS standards and regulations.
- Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
- Ensure site leadership and associates are trained and knowledgeable about their responsibilities under each policy; audit the quality and effectiveness of OSS training.
- Work flexible shifts periodically and travel up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5 years of progressive responsibility in safety and/or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, or service operations.
- 5 years of experience in people and performance management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Proven experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in operational environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including database management and pivot tables.
