Warehouse Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Warehouse & Purchasing Manager to lead the daily operations of our distribution warehouse while also managing purchasing and inventory replenishment for the location.

This is a hybrid operational role requiring someone who can effectively balance people, inventory, purchasing, and customer priorities. The Warehouse & Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time, inventory is properly maintained, and the right products are purchased at the right time and cost to support the needs of the business.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable making decisions, and able to move easily between managing warehouse employees, solving operational problems, reviewing inventory needs, placing purchase orders, and communicating with vendors and internal teams.

Duties

• Manage daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, replenishment, and inventory movement.
• Establish daily priorities and assign work based on customer and operational requirements.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.
• Monitor open orders and proactively address issues that could impact customer delivery.
• Provide daily direction, coaching, and accountability to warehouse employees.
• Monitor productivity and quality of work and address performance concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient warehouse.
• Train employees on warehouse procedures, systems, equipment, safety practices, and company expectations.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, warehouse layout, and overall efficiency.
• Manage purchasing and inventory replenishment for the warehouse.
• Review inventory levels, open customer orders, historical usage, lead times, and upcoming demand to determine purchasing requirements.
• Create and manage purchase orders and ensure orders are placed accurately and timely.
• Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with vendors regarding delivery dates, shortages, backorders, and other issues.
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels while balancing product availability with the need to control excess inventory.
• Proactively identify potential stockouts and take appropriate action before they impact customers.
• Identify excess, obsolete, slow-moving, or redundant inventory and recommend appropriate action.
• Coordinate purchasing priorities with Sales, Operations, and other company locations as needed

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, inventory management, purchasing, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or warehouse leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Purchasing or procurement experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory management and replenishment principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to analyze inventory requirements and make sound purchasing decisions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
• Comfortable working directly with suppliers and negotiating pricing, availability, and delivery.
• Experience with ERP, purchasing, inventory, or warehouse management systems preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other common business applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Forklift experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a warehouse environment throughout the workday.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical warehouse activities as necessary.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials consistent with the requirements of the position.
• Ability to operate or become qualified to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.

This position requires someone who takes ownership of the entire flow of product—from identifying the need and placing the purchase order through receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipment to the customer.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
