Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our busy and highly respected Mohs and surgical dermatology practice at Distinctive Dermatology. This is a fast-paced, procedural environment requiring strong clinical skills, excellent patient communication, and the ability to thrive in a team based setting. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional support in outpatient dermatology and surgical procedures, assisting physicians with patient intake, preparation, and post-procedure care. We are also looking for a candidate that would potentially be interested in expanding their skillset and learning histology technician skills.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system Modernizing Medicine
- Measure and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen saturation levels.
- Prepare patients for dermatologic exams or surgical procedures by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Assist physicians during dermatology treatments and surgeries by handing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and managing supplies.
- Support patient education by providing post-procedure instructions and answering basic questions about skin care or surgical aftercare.
- Manage clinical documentation with precision, including ICD coding for diagnoses, medication administration records, and procedural notes.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
Experience
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- Team oriented mindset with a patient first approach
- Previous experience in dermatology clinics or outpatient surgical settings is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of EMR system Modernizing Medicine or EMA preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to skin and surgical sites, and physiology principles is essential.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in fast paced procedural setting
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to take constructive feedback in the moment
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
