I helped a Tax Director join this firm earlier this year, and something they told me recently has stuck with me.
They haven't worked more than 50 hours a week during tax season, they work from home 3 days a week, and, best of all, they haven't missed a single one of their son's soccer practices.
For someone who's spent 10 years in Public Accounting, that's probably a bigger selling point than another fancy job title.
This established CPA firm in Coral Gables is sized, and has managed to create a working environment where you can have a successful career, lead a team and earn very good money without work taking over your entire life.
The firm is independently owned, with no Private Equity involvement and no plans to change that. The Partners are proud of what they've built and want to keep it that way.
Busy season typically sits around 45 to 55 hours, with 55 being the upper limit rather than something you're expected to hit every week.
You'll have hybrid flexibility, generous PTO, twice yearly bonuses, extra time off around April 15, July 4 and Thanksgiving, plus a full Christmas and New Year shutdown.
There's also health, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) match, life insurance, long term disability cover and opportunities to earn additional income through client referrals and new business.
What they're looking for:
- 12 years of continuous Public Accounting tax experience
- Strong technical knowledge across 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120 and 1120S returns
- Experience managing complex portfolios of HNW individuals, businesses, Partnerships and Trusts
- Confidence leading Managers, Supervisors and Seniors while developing client relationships
- Strong tax planning, advisory and review experience
As Tax Director, you'll have real responsibility, direct access to the Partners and the freedom to lead your team without unnecessary micromanagement.
And if Partnership is something you're interested in, there's an opportunity to explore that.
Equally, if you're happy being a Tax Director and doing a great job, there's no pressure to chase another title.
