What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Auditor position at Distinct | North America?
Audit Senior/ Supervisor | NFP, EBP Private clients
You’re already doing the senior role. Leading engagements. Reviewing properly. Spotting risk before anyone asks. Being the person juniors go to first.
But where you are right now, it still feels like you’re waiting. Waiting for someone above you to move. Waiting for time served to tick over. Waiting to be “ready” on paper.
This isn’t one of those firms.
This is for someone who wants to step into that next level now and be backed when they do it.
You’ll be joining a mid sized Chicagoland firm of around 150 people that’s grown in a steady, deliberate way. No private equity. No constant reshuffling. No trying to figure out what they are.
They’ve built it properly and it shows in how people talk about it. Not in a forced way either. The words that come up again and again are simple. Team. Trust. Family.
Partners are present. You’ll work with them, not send work up and hope it comes back. They’re in the detail, available when you need them, and actually invested in how you develop.
The client base gives you options.
They have real strength in not for profit and employee benefit plans, so if that’s your area, there’s more than enough there to keep building depth.
Or if you enjoy the client side and want more of a mix you can have that here Clients ranging from smaller organisations through to $750m revenue.
There’s also more variety than most audit roles. You’ll see work from planning through to financials, with some exposure to tax as part of engagements. It keeps things interesting and gives you a more rounded skillset.
The hours are realistic. Busy season sits around 55 hours. There’s a smaller fall push, but nothing like a second busy season. The rest of the year settles closer to the high 30s.
Progression here isn’t tied to how long you’ve been around. It’s based on what you’re already doing. If you’re stepping up, they’ll meet you there.
If you’re ready to take that next step somewhere that actually recognises it when you do, this is worth a conversation.
Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply the old-fashioned way, or just reach out to start a conversation with Imogen via LinkedIn or the Distinct Recruitment website or contact her cell at 312-584-9844. She’ll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further.
Imogen Talbot-Slack is a Recruiter with Distinct Recruitment.
Think you only have 87% of the required experience? Perfect - apply anyway. The CPA firms we partner with want diverse, interesting people, not corporate clones stamped from the same tedious mould.
Don’t overthink it. The worst outcome is a pleasant conversation about your career. The best? Well, that's where it gets rather exciting.
