What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney, Auto Defense position at Distinct | North America?
Litigation Attorney, Auto Defense | Fort Lauderdale, FL | $125,000 to $200,000 | Auto Defense
Broward is a demanding place to try a case. Busy dockets, an experienced plaintiff's bar and juries who notice when a lawyer hasn't done the preparation. It's also one of the best places in Florida to find out how good you really are in front of a jury.
Some auto defense attorneys spend years near that experience without ever getting into it properly. They prepare the trial binder, draft the motions in limine and then watch someone else deliver the opening.
I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment. I'm hiring an auto defense attorney in Fort Lauderdale for a client firm, and the role is built around exposure: your own depositions, your own hearings and real trial work.
What fills the week
• Auto negligence defense for carriers and their insureds, from routine collisions to serious injury claims
• Taking depositions of plaintiffs, treating doctors and accident reconstruction experts
• Drafting and arguing motions, including summary judgment and motions in limine
• Mediations where you set the strategy and report the outcome
• Trial preparation and trial itself, with first chair work as your experience grows
Who it's for
• 2 years of Florida litigation experience, auto or general insurance defense ideally
• Florida Bar license
• Someone who'd rather stand up in court than draft for someone else who does
Built to scale
Experienced attorneys will carry the larger files, lead trials, mentor associates and become the first point of contact for adjusters. The salary range is set wide on purpose so a senior attorney's experience is properly paid rather than averaged down.
The terms
• $125,000 to $200,000 depending on experience
• 1,950 billable hours
• Hybrid working in Fort Lauderdale
• Progression toward partnership
Auto defense is still the quickest way in insurance defense to build a trial record. Volume brings reps, reps bring judgment, and judgment is what carriers end up paying for. The only condition is that someone gives you the reps, and lets you keep the ones you've earned.
If that's what you're after, I'd like to hear from you.
