Ask a room of litigators where they learned to think on their feet and very few will say bankruptcy court. They should.

Bankruptcy litigation puts you in front of a judge early and often. Hearings come thick and fast, the stakes are rarely theoretical, and the judges expect you to know your file cold. For a litigator in the first half of their career, there are few better places to build confidence on your feet, and very few other practices where a mid level associate argues this often.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, and I'm hiring a litigation associate in Tampa for a national firm with an established Tampa office. You'd join its litigation group with a focus on bankruptcy and creditor side matters.

The matters

• Adversary proceedings, preference and fraudulent transfer actions

• Contested motions, stay relief and plan related disputes

• Creditor side representation for lenders, financial institutions and commercial clients

• Related commercial litigation in state and federal court

• Regular court appearances rather than a diet of document review

The profile

• Florida Bar required

• 2 years of litigation experience

• Bankruptcy experience is a big plus, but strong commercial litigators who want more time in court should still reach out

• Comfortable with financial documents and the commercial reality behind them

The package

• $140,000 to $225,000. I've kept the range purposely broad because there's flex for the right candidate if experience warrants it

• I'll give you my honest view on where you'd sit before you apply
